In August 2024, the McKee Gallery relocated to a brand-new space in Leah’s Yard.
Designed the floor plan, colour palette, and shop fit for the gallery, creating a cohesive and visually striking space.
Art Director of Frank and Joy: A Love Story
In the Autumn of 2023 Pete McKee opened his new sold out exhibition celebrating the live and love of two of his most popular characters Frank & Joy Their life story was told through the imagined pub The Buffers Rest where all the important events in their lives unfolded. For this exhibition Pete worked with set designers to build a pub within a warehouse in Sheffield. Visitors would enter the pub to view the couples story within allocated time slots.
Operations Assistant for The Boy With A Leg Named Brian: A Memoir
Playful, evocative, funny and moving, this interactive exhibition chronicles the artist’s formative years through over 90 McKee creations. Key moments and treasured memories are captured in a new series of paintings, prints and sculpture, as well as highlights from across his career. The artworks are complemented by displays celebrating the clothes, games, music and popular culture of the period, transporting visitors back through the decades.
Split into five sections, the exhibition spans Pete’s earliest memories, including the loss of his mum, through to the teenage joy of finding his identity through fashion and music. Exploring the places and the events that shaped his life and influenced his art, the displays also feature key works from the city’s collection that had an impact on Pete growing up.

Created and edited a short film showcasing the artist’s process sculpting a piece within the exhibition. Collaborated with Sheffield Museums to ensure the messaging aligned seamlessly.
